text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/excelevate.co\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Add-Chart-Screenshot_2025-06-11-scaled.png?w=1080&#038;ssl=1\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/div>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u201d4.27.4\u2033 custom_margin=\u201d||0px|||\u201d global_colors_info=\u201d{}\u201d]<\/p>\n<h3><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/excelevate.co\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/how-icon_green_transparent.png?w=32&#038;ssl=1\"  loading=\"lazy\"> How to disable the F1 Help shortcut<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u201d4.27.4\u2033 _module_preset=\u201ddefault\u201d global_colors_info=\u201d{}\u201d]<\/p>\n<p>If you are a frequent Excel user, you probably know that F2 is a shortcut for entering edit mode.\u00a0 It\u2019s super-handy not just when looking at the grid but also any time you are looking at a dialog box with a cell range component (i.e. conditional formatting, named ranges, data validation, selecting chart ranges, etc.).\u00a0 But it\u2019s so easy to accidentally press the F1 key, then you have to wait for the Help menu to load before you can close it.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to disable the F1 shortcut, you can do this with a little VBA code.\u00a0 Below is very similar to what I use to replace the shortcut with a message box stating that the Help shortcut has been disabled.\u00a0 Alternatively, you could change it to do nothing at all.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u201d4.27.4\u2033 _module_preset=\u201ddefault\u201d global_colors_info=\u201d{}\u201d]<script src=\"https:\/\/gist.github.com\/Jeterdawg\/c01216682c233dc8163935ebf28e31c9.js\">[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\"4.27.4\" _module_preset=\"default\" global_colors_info=\"{}\"]<script src=\"https:\/\/gist.github.com\/Jeterdawg\/a308308f857870cc447fd91912ac454f.js\"><\/script>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\"4.27.4\" _module_preset=\"default\" global_colors_info=\"{}\"]<\/p>\n<p>Now if you want to always be available, consider including the code snippet below into an add-in file or your personal macro workbook.
